Sell Out Crowd Attends Energy Documentary in West Palm Beach

Posted by vinyasun on Apr 21, 2016 6:42:00 PM

A group of energy advocates, non-profits, concerned citizens and solar companies attended a screening of the award winning documentary Catching the Sun to hear the positive benefits that solar energy provides when the policy is working in its favor.

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla April 21, 2016 – According to a Facebook post by Leonardo DiCaprio the film Catching the Sun will go live on Netflix on Earth Day, April 22 for the world to see but local solar energy supplier Vinyasun hosted an exclusive screening of the award winning documentary at the City Place Muvico this Thursday for a crowd that grew to the point the theatre had to upgrade the capacity to a larger room.

The film supported by actors and activists Mark Ruffalo, Leonardo Dicaprio and executive produced by Adrian Grenier shines light on the positive economic impact the growth of solar is having on the world. Estimated to be a 1.2 trillion-dollar market of jobs that cannot be outsourced to overseas, the industry has grown to over 210,000 employees with one of the most racially diverse workforces while leading the employment of veterans in the U.S.

Host and President of Vinyasun, Justin Hoysradt, says, “The support for rooftop solar in Florida has never been stronger than it is today. Folks don’t typically sell out movie theatres for a documentary, let alone on a Thursday night.” The crowd stayed long into the evening for nearly an hour of discussion led by Hoysradt and co-chaired by Matt Zirkelbach and green building and energy modeling professional. The discussion included questions about the cost of switching to solar in Florida, local politics surrounding net-metering and third party sales of energy and working with utilities to advance clean energy.
