Catching the Sun is a star studded, award-winning, documentary that that tells the story of the global energy transition from the perspective of workers and entrepreneurs building solutions to income inequality and climate change with their own hands. Unlike other doom and gloom documentaries, this film offers real solutions and sheds light on clean energy as the largest economic opportunity of our lifetime while highlighting the challenges we face to fully transition.
"A must-see film. An eye-opening look at workers and entrepreneurs on the forefront of the clean energy movement that will transform, and enliven the way you see the future. What is clear is the wonderful opportunity the transition to clean energy represents." – Mark Ruffalo, Oscar award winning actor for his work in “Spotlight” and energy activist
In over 50 cities 200 grassroots organizations and companies are participating in the event, including Vinyasun. “The leadership in the city of West Palm Beach has been on the forefront of tackling climate solutions, so when we had the opportunity to host a screening here we knew it had to be done,” says President of Vinyasun, Justin Hoysradt, whom has offices in West Palm Beach. “This documentary is not only entertaining it also offers an opportunity to tackle the startling gap in awareness around the affordability of solar energy”.
Already, a capitol hill screening of Catching the Sun hosted by Secretary of State Kerry sent U.S. Governors and Mayors home from States and Cities Diplomacy Week charged to push for solar. Catching the Sun is part of the American Film Showcase, produced by the USC School of Cinematic Arts, and will be screened at U.S. embassies and diplomatic missions around the world. Featured at the 2015 COP21 UN Climate Conference in Paris, Catching the Sun opened conversation amongst global leaders.
The film is the work of Executive Producer Adrian Grenier, best know as the Star of HBO Series Entourage and multiple award winning Director Shalini Kantayya. The documentary will debut in the West Palm Beach, City Place Muvico 20, on April 21, ahead of Earth Day to spark conversations about clean energy in over 50 cities across the United States.
